The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has approved the request of the Ministry of Social Affairs, regarding the collection of donations in mosques during the month of Ramadan.
The administrative circular issued by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Farid Emadi, a copy of which has been obtained by a local Arabic daily, said is allowed to collect donations throughout the holy month through bank deductions (KNet) only.
Representatives of charity societies and associations are authorized to collect donations but are not allowed to give speeches inside the mosques, or introductory information about the association or the projects it is carrying out in order not to disturb the worshipers.
Each association is also places allowed to place portable and independent advertisements licensed by the Ministry of Social Affairs at the entrance of the mosque and along the back wall so as not to distract the worshipers from performing their prayers in humility, in accordance with the fatwa issued by the Fatwa Committee of the Ministry, provided that the association that issued the advertisement removes these advertisements at the end of the period mentioned in the circular.
The circular prohibits placing advertisements calling for collecting donations on the walls of mosques from outside or inside, except for those authorized by the Social Affairs in accordance with the license granted by the Ministry in this regard.
The Ministry of Social Affairs shall be notified of this violation, and it is strictly forbidden to place money collection boxes in mosques. The imams of mosques are not entitled to collect donations for any charity project or permission to set up charity projects for the benefit of any party.
