The Ministry of Interior has announced expatriates who hold Article No 20 work permit (domestic workers) will forfeit their right to return if they remain outside the country for more than six (continuous) months, starting from Dec 1, 2021.
Al-Qabas said in the best interest of citizens, the residence affairs sector has resumed the automatic cancellation of the residence permits of “domestic workers” who have been outside the country for a period of 6 months or more effective from the beginning of this month.
This is done in view of the country returning to normalcy and improvement of the epidemiological situation in the country.
The Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior said in a statement today, Saturday, that this procedure was stopped earlier due to the repercussions of the Corona pandemic and the imposition of travel restrictions between several countries.
The administration said if citizens (sponsors) wish to allow their domestic workers to remain outside the country for a period of more than “6 months” can submit a request to the administration personally or through his/her legal representative.
