Deputy Director General of the Fisheries Sector at the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources, Mohsen Al-Mutairi, confirmed that no report had been received so far about whales entering Kuwait’s waters, Al Rai newspaper reported. He was referring to a video circulating about spotting two whales near the island of Qaruh.

Al-Mutairi told Al Rai that observatories across the country have been mobilized to search for the two whales through the authority’s boats and to immediately report if they are spotted. In addition, coordination is also underway with competent authorities such as Kuwait University, the Research Institute, and the Public Authority for the Environment, the Coast Guard and the Kuwait Municipality to deal with the situation. He explained that efforts are being done to keep them away from Kuwaiti waters if spotted to prevent them from colliding with ships.
