The Follow-up and Performance Department of the State Audit Bureau issued reports on government agencies, which included a set of recommendations and an evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of its activities during 2022 and previous years.

The reports, a copy of which has been obtained by a local Arabic daily, includes observations on a number of government agencies, including the Public Authority for Housing Welfare because there are 667,000 citizens on the waiting list for private housing.

The reports evaluated the efficiency of investment activity and administrative systems related to the Awqaf Trust, and the effectiveness of the Ministry of Education in implementing development plans projects from 2015 to 2020, in addition to a report evaluating the efficiency of maintaining oil tanks at the Kuwait Oil Company.

Also among the evaluations are the efficiency of the performance of postal services in the Ministry of Communications, the effectiveness of the performance of the National Center for Education Development, the capabilities of the Agriculture Authority to provide food security, the performance of automated systems for supply management in the Ministry of Commerce, and the effectiveness of the investment activity of the Zakat House.

The report on the follow-up of the efficiency and effectiveness of the performance of the automated systems for supply management in the Ministry of Commerce showed non-compliance with health, security and personal safety requirements, recording violations of some outlets, and poor coordination between Supply and Environment and the Food Authority regarding violations.

The report called for an automatic linking of the supply system with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to follow up on citizens on scholarship abroad, to stop the disbursement of subsidized food items to them, due to their continued non-residence within the country, in addition to the importance of amending the mechanism for updating death data by linking with civil information, and including the mechanism for validating the registration of domestic workers on ration card.

The Audit Bureau recommended the General Secretariat of Awqaf to study the reasons that led to the failure of many companies invested in securities to achieve any return or decline, and to work to address them with the required speed, stressing the availability of many investments in troubled or poorly performing securities and funds that need quick decisions to come out of difficult situations.
