The attack on a doctor has resulted in a fracture of the skull and a brain hemorrhage after he was assaulted by an unidentified visitor at the Kuwait Centre for Mental Health.

The Minister of Health Dr Khaled Al-Saeed, accompanied by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mustafa Reda and Director of Al-Sabah Specialized Medical District, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Sahli, visited the doctor who was assaulted by one of the visitors at the Kuwait Center for Mental Health, to check on the stability of his health condition.

Al-Rai quoting the Ministry of Health sources said the attack has been strongly condemned calling the incident unfortunate and affirmed its full support for all measures that protects the rights of health practitioners against such reprehensible and unacceptable behavior, and to take the necessary legal measures regarding this unfortunate incident.

The ministry reiterated that it will spare no efforts to provide a safe and appropriate work environment for medical personnel to perform their lofty mission as required, revealing that the ministry coordinated with the security authorities to intensify the security presence around the clock to provide the necessary protection for medical personnel and visitors, asking God for protection and safety for all.

The sources indicated, “The assailant was brought to the center following a quarrel that took place on Failaka Island, after doubts about the possibility of using drugs.”

The sources indicated when the accused was brought to the police at about eight o’clock yesterday he appeared unperturbed.

The sources indicated the doctor was taken to Al-Sabah Hospital and an immediate operation was performed on him, pointing out that the doctor’s condition is now stable.
