The Interior Ministry said today, that personnel from the Directorate-General for Drugs Control in a preemptive strike against drug dealers thwarted a drug smuggling operation and seized an estimated at two kilograms of pure heroin.
The Public Relations and Security Media Department of the DGDC said this comes within the security efforts to protect everyone from this dangerous scourge, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added an Asian tried to smuggle the contraband by hiding inside steel tubes in an innovative manner.
The accused and the seized items have been referred to the competent authority to take the necessary legal measures against him.
The ministry called on everyone to cooperate with the security men and report any negative phenomena to the emergency phone (112) and the DGDC hotline 1884141.
