The ASEAN Family Day 2019, organized by the ASEAN Committee in Kuwait (ACK) at the Kuwait University Sports facility on 14 December, was attended by a large gathering of nationals from ASEAN member countries in Kuwait.
The ACK comprises nine member states of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
In his welcome address, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Thailand and current Chair of ACK, Pisoot Suwanrasami, extended his thanks to the ASEAN community for their active participation in the event, which demonstrated the unity and friendship among ASEAN countries and their people.
He noted that the ASEAN Family Day is an ACK tradition held in December every year with the intention to promote unity and solidarity among the ASEAN community in Kuwait, as well as to increase awareness of ASEAN as a community among the Kuwait citizens.
Emphasizing the need to strengthen the relationship among ASEAN citizens, the Chargé d’Affaires highlighted its importance for achieving ASEAN’s goal of ‘One Vision, One Identity, One Community’ as the Founding Fathers dreamt of over 52 years ago.
The attendees enjoyed a variety of activities during the day, including zumba dancing, raffle draws, as well as fun games such as musical chairs, hip hip hooray, tic tac toe, tug of war, sack race and balloon walking. A buffet featuring various Asian national foods was savored by those present.
