ASEAN embassies in Kuwait in collaboration with Al Sadu Weaving Cooperative Society is co-organizing “ASEAN Textile Exhibition & Craft Workshops” during 1 – 6 September 2022 at Sadu House. The Exhibition is aimed at promoting ASEAN textile as one of the world textile heritages to Kuwaiti public. It will spotlight the superb fabric, local garment and handmade cloth in both fashionable and national dresses.

In the Exhibition, textiles and its products from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam’s silk and cotton, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei’s batik and the Philippines’ tribal design fabrics will be beautifully presented.

Sadu House, the leading foundation of Kuwaiti textile heritage will host the exhibition as well as the workshops during 6 days event. The daily workshops will provide fabric lesson classes regarding Indonesia’s batik making, Thailand’s silk cloth flowers creating, the Philippines’ bracelet weaving and Malaysia’s traditional headgear folding.

ASEAN textile is a treasury of the world and bears witness to the vast wealth of textile development from the 14th century until present day. It is the first time in Kuwait that splendid collection of textiles in ASEAN nations will be displayed together at the prestige Sadu House of Kuwait.

The exhibition will be open for visitors on the first week of September at 10 am – 2 pm and 4 – 8 pm. Some textiles and handicrafts are also available for sale to the visitors in the event.
