As part of ongoing efforts to adjust the demographic imbalance and reduce the number of marginal workers in the country, the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has discontinued the issuing of Article 18 visas to those aged over 60 and employed in low-cadre jobs in the private sector.

Sources at PAM stressed that the new rule will not be applicable to those holding high educational degrees, such as doctors, engineers, journalists, legal consultants, specialists, executive directors, private company partners, and many others who specialize in various fields.

The new decision will mostly affect those employed as clerical staff, drivers, and mandoubs (company representatives).
