The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced the new measures that will be applied at Kuwait International Airport as of Sunday 21/2/2021. In a press release, DGCA said that all passengers arriving via direct flights from “high-risk” countries will be required to enter institutional quarantine in a local hotel for a period of 14 days at their own expense by registering on the “Kuwait Mosafer” platform, Al-Rai daily reported.

Civil aviation has classified previously ban countries as “high risk” instead of prohibited. The daily reported list has expanded after adding 33 new countries to the list previously list of 35.

The 33 countries that the health authorities requested to add are- South Africa – Portugal – Angola Botswana – the Democratic Republic of the Congo – Cape Verde – Eswatini Lesotho – Malawi – Zimbabwe – Turkey – Japan – Mauritius – Seychelles – Bolivia – Mozambique – Namibia – Tanzania – Zambia – Suriname – Sweden – Ireland – Switzerland Venezuela – Paraguay – Ecuador – Guyana – French Guiana – Uruguay, Trinidad, and Tobago – the United Arab Emirates – Germany – the United States of America.

These countries are added to the previous list of countries that include: India – Iran – China – Brazil – Colombia – Armenia – Bangladesh – the Philippines – Syria – Spain – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Sri Lanka – Nepal – Iraq – Mexico – Indonesia – Chile – Pakistan – Egypt – Lebanon – Hong Kong – Italy – North Macedonia – Moldova – Panama – Peru – Serbia – Montenegro and Dominicans – Kosovo – Afghanistan – Argentina – France – Yemen – Britain.

Regarding the rest of the passengers coming from other countries, they will require to  institution quarantine a local hotel for a period of 7 days at their own expense by registering on the “Kuwait Mosafer” platform, followed by another 7 days in in-home quarantine.

The press release also stated that Kuwaiti patients seeking treatment abroad, Kuwaiti students studying abroad, minors under 18 and unaccompanied travelers, members of the diplomatic corps and medical staff, are exempted from institutional quarantine provided they quarantine at home for 14 days.
