Arab Meteorological agencies will celebrate Tuesday, the Arab Meteorological Day, a “milestone” in the joint Arab work in the meteorological field. In a statement, the Arab League said half a century ago, the decision to set up the Permanent Arab Committee for Meteorology was taken by the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level.

The decision aimed to unify the efforts towards achieving the objectives of this vital scientific field. This year, the Arab Meteorological Day titled ‘Climate and the community’s safety’, as it is an important opportunity to highlight the role of various meteorological entities and centers in the Arab world, as it will highlight many issues and proposals addressing the problems and challenges facing Arab meteorological agencies, the statement added.

It added that the meteorological agencies devote the necessary technical and human resources to alert citizens and public authorities of bad weather situations that may pose a direct or indirect threat to the safety of people and their property.
