The Criminal Security Sector, the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Research and Investigation in Farwaniya Governorate upon direct instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Criminal Security Affairs, Major General Hamed Al-Dawas, have arrested an unidentified person for sexually molesting children.
Surprisingly, the suspect is a teacher of Islamic education and works in a school in the Ministry of Education, in the Jahra governorate, reports a local Arabic daily. The incident brings back the memory of the famous Hawalli monster case that terrorized the nation.
A security source said the case came to light when personnel from the Research and Investigation Department in the Farwaniya Governorate received a report from a Pakistani that his 8-year-old son had been sexually assaulted while he was on his way to a grocery.
After the father took the boy to the area police station the child’s clothes appeared to be soiled with male sperm.
The source added that the detectives went to the site where the child was molested and checked the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the shops and residential buildings, which led them to another case when the cameras showed the suspect molesting another child.
At this point the detectives realized that they were on a trail of a serial molester similar to the case the famous Hawally monster, which prompted them to intensify their investigations and use surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the two crime scenes.
The source pointed out that the detectives were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle, which also appeared in a third video during his assault on an Arab child.
When the detectives ran a check on the vehicle they were surprised to find out it belonged to an Islamic education teacher working in the Ministry of Education school in the Jahra governorate following which the detectives went to the teacher, arrested him, and took him to the investigation office.
The source pointed out that the accused, during his interrogation, confessed to raping and harassing more than 50 children, and gave the detectives detailed information of how and where he molested the children over the past three months.
He also threatened the children saying he would return to kill them if they informed their parents, pointing out that the detectives tracked the cases filed over the past three months and discovered that there were 6 cases filed against an unknown person of molesting Arab and Asian children.
The source explained that the detectives are working on the case to collect as much information as possible to reach the largest number of victims, using footage of surveillance cameras installed at suspect sites.
Of the 50 crimes of child abuse, the detectives were able to identify six victims and all if them have picked the suspect from a legal lineup and explained in detail to the prosecutor how they were abused and what happened to them at the hands of the accused.
