A ministerial decision is expected to be issued to extend the grace period for residency law violators to amend their status for another month, Al Rai daily reported. This comes after expats remain in Kuwait who are in violation of the residency law and did not take advantage of the prior grace period to either change their status and to leave the country, primarily due to the current conditions and circumstances related to coronavirus,  security sources revealed to Al-Rai. The earlier deadline expires on 2 March.

The sources pointed out that “the deadline does not exempt violators from paying fines for staying illegally, but rather allows those whose residency or visas expired from January 1, 2020, to settle their status in accordance with the residency law, or pay fines and leave without being blacklisted from returning to Kuwait in the future.”
