Al-Qabas and Forbes Middle East are preparing to launch a joint event to announce the list of the 20 most powerful entrepreneurs in Kuwait, representing all commercial sectors, from technology and e-commerce to hospitality and fashion, on March 15.

Nasser Al-Moumen, Executive Director of Al-Qabas Media Corporation, revealed Al-Qabas newspaper’s existing cooperation with “Forbes Middle East” magazine which was motivated by its social responsibility towards Kuwaiti entrepreneurs who are considered one of the most important pillars of the national economy.

Al-Moumen said during the press conference that was held on Tuesday to reveal the details of the event which will be hosted by the American University of the Middle East, AUM: “The projects carried out by Kuwaiti initiators and entrepreneurs receive great interest in the economic circles of Kuwait and neighboring countries. Hence, they decided on the cooperation between Al-Qabas and “Forbes Middle East” since July 2022 to conduct a comprehensive study of the local market, which resulted in a list of the 20 best entrepreneurs in Kuwait who support digital transformation in their projects.

Al-Moamen further indicated that the purpose of this study is to enrich the environment for entrepreneurs and create competition and passion for them noting that obtaining the world-famous Forbes Award, which is economically acclaimed, would open opportunities for entrepreneurs to receive partnerships from local and regional investors.

Al-Moumen concluded and explained that the partnership project with Forbes Middle East would not have been possible without the cooperation of AUM University and the sponsoring companies : National Bank of Kuwait, Zain, Al-Mulla Group, ABK Capital, and Ali Al-Ghanim Automotive Company.

During the same press conference, Forbes Middle East Events Director, Shannon Norris, stated that the organizers of Forbes Middle East are very happy to hold this event to highlight the successes of startups and young entrepreneurs in Kuwait.

Norris pointed out that Kuwait has a long history of success as many Kuwaitis have had a place on the Forbes billionaires list for decades, explaining that the level of higher education and creative talents of youth with their easy access to technology and high purchasing power represent an advantage for Kuwaiti entrepreneurs. Hence in the next decade, Kuwaiti youth, entrepreneurs and startups, will have a fundamental role in the economic scene of Kuwait, with the state’s efforts to diversify the economy and reduce dependence on oil income.

She concluded: “This partnership between Forbes and Al-Qabas comes from a common vision to support entrepreneurs in Kuwait, as we hope that this event will encourage many Kuwaiti youth to be interested in entrepreneurship and expand creative business ideas.”
