Minister of Public Works and Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Ali Al-Mousa, said he sent a letter to the Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development, Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Urban Development Mubarak Al-Aro, to form a higher committee to support and promote the local agricultural produce.
Al-Mousa says he expects a nod from the Social Affairs Ministry expected to his request, to enable procedures to be worked upon in this regard, noting that one of the committee’s most important functions is to review the legislation regulating the support and promotion of the Kuwaiti agricultural produce, taking into account the proposals which need revision.
This is in addition to drawing up a national strategy to enhance agricultural food security, in addition to strengthening support for local agricultural produce by increasing the number of points of sale and also at cooperative societies and unifying and strengthening efforts in the government and private sectors to promote the agricultural product.
He added that one of the committee’s tasks is also to form field inspection teams to submit periodic reports on the committee’s work to the Council of Ministers.
