Minister of Finance Fahd Abdulaziz Al-Jarallah has received an invitation from the Finance and Economic Affairs Committee of the National Assembly today, to review the government’s vision for a draft law to increase the minimum pensions for retirees, to be completed and approved during the next session of the Parliament or the next if agreed upon.

The Minister stressed the importance of cooperating and working with the Committee at the beginning of the current session to make more achievements that culminate in the continuation of constructive cooperation with the National Assembly and are in the interest of the nation and the citizen.

He indicated that this project comes in implementation of the Amiri desire and the High Directives and in accordance with the Cabinet’s decision to the first government projects that announced its intention to present them to improve the living standards of the targeted segments of citizens will be for retirees, and then other scenarios for employees in the public and private sectors will be reviewed at the same meeting of the committee, so that they can be completed no later than the end of this year.

The Minister stated that the technical teams in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) are working to prepare the technical, financial and legal requirements leading to approving these laws and issuing the necessary decisions and putting them into effect according to the target date, stressing the importance of economic reforms and stopping waste to ensure the sustainability of the state’s public finances and achieve Justice and equality among segments of working citizens.

The vision also contributes to encouraging national cadres to work in the private sector, which is an essential source of the national economy.
