About a week after the commencement of the second session, the government finds itself under constant pressure, facing inquiries and accountability demands from various Members of Parliament.

This dynamic underscores the growing uncertainty in the political landscape and the future of the relationship between the two branches of authority, reports Al-Rai daily.

While tensions had been simmering prior to the start of the session, marked by the resignation of the Minister of Works, Dr. Amani Boukmaz, and the withdrawal of two scheduled interrogations, the parliamentary atmosphere has been heating up day by day.

The situation escalated when MP Abdul Wahab Al-Issa declared his refusal to cooperate with the Prime Minister and voiced support for all accountability requests. He also expressed a lack of confidence in the ministers.

Simultaneously, MP Mutaib Al-Rathaan announced his intent to submit a comprehensive interrogation directed at the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Faleh Al-Ruqaba, which would be the second such action taken against the government following MP Hamdan Al-Azmi’s interrogation of the Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Muhammad Al-Aiban.

MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri denied having submitted an interrogation to the Prime Minister and assured that he would officially announce any such action.

MP Muhalhal Al-Mudhaf was mum regarding the reports surrounding his potential interrogation of the Prime Minister. There were also indications of upcoming interrogations of the Minister of Education by MPs Abdul Hadi Al-Ajmi and Badr Nashmi.

MP Abdul Wahab Al-Issa called for the government to tender its resignation promptly “so that we can form a new government with the full confidence of the political leadership.” In the same vein, MP Miteb Al-Rathaan pledged that the interrogation of Minister Al-Raqba would be a nationally and popularly supported endeavor, emphasizing that “no minister in the government will go unaccountable.”

On a different note, the Parliamentary Coordination Committee convened a meeting with several heads of parliamentary committees to monitor the progress of the legislative initiatives outlined in the publicized legislative roadmap, which encompasses 18 draft laws.

The committee approved a sequential distribution of these draft laws on the sessions’ agendas to ensure that each session involves legislative activities, whether related to daily life, development, or reform.
