The staff of the Nuclear Medicine Unit at the Al-Adan Hospital celebrated the World Week of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, which is held in October each year to gain more experience, by presenting the latest research findings in this field, enabling the development of methods for diagnosing diseases.

Head of the Nuclear Medicine Unit at Al-Adan Hospital, Dr. Iman Al-Shammari, said more than 3,700 nuclear medical examinations were conducted by the unit during the Corona pandemic 2020-2021, indicating a significant increase in the number of nuclear medicine examinations during the past five years, as well as the use of the latest medical devices in the service of the patients.

Dr Al-Shammari added more than 800 cases were examined with a precise positron emission test, and said there is a distinguished medical staff working in the unit, who boast of the latest medical expertise in the world.

She explained the waiting time for all nuclear medicine examinations is a maximum of 48 hours.

For her part, Aisha Al-Qattan, Head of Nuclear Medicine Specialists and Technicians, pointed out that the Nuclear Medicine Unit at Al-Adan Hospital has been undergoing tangible changes and continuous modernization including the combined CT scan, CT coupled positron emission tomography, fully equipped radiopharmacy, thyroid clinic, thyroid meter and carbon-14 tester for stomach germs.
