The recent Cabinet’s decision does not exempt travelers coming to the country from undergoing a PCR test in the country from where they are departing while ensuring the validity of the PCR certificate is 72 hours from the date of the test and not from the date of issuance of the result, Al Qabas reported.

The Council of Ministers announced yesterday the recruitment of new domestic workers would be permitted, and airlines responsible for the cost of conducting PCR tests, the first being on passengers arriving to Kuwait, and the second during the quarantine period, Al Qabas daily reported, quoting a responsible source.

The procedures will start next Sunday, and does not apply to travelers arriving in the next few days.

The source stated that among the preliminary scenarios put forward, one of the ground service providers, who is accredited at Kuwait International Airport, through its cooperation with airlines, is assigned to manage the organization and conducting of PCR tests for arriving passengers to the country, or for the airline to assume the regulatory process of conducting tests for arriving passengers to the country through the Kuwait airport, which is unlikely, saying, “All these matters are still being studied and there is no final decision regarding them.”

On the increase in ticket prices as airlines are required to bear the cost of conducting PCR tests, the source said to the daily, “It is expected prices will increase, but in general, ticket prices are subject to supply and demand, and therefore there will be a price variation.”

Regarding the recruitment of new domestic workers, the source said that the procedures underlined in the domestic worker recruitment plan approved at the beginning of December will be implemented. It added that the domestic worker’s PCR certificates will be examined before her arrival to the country and during, and tests conducted at the airport, as well as being subjected to tests after the end of the stipulated institutional quarantine, particularly when they arrive from countries on the banned high-risk list.
