An African gang of 5 members that committed thefts against people in various locations in the Capital governorate was arrested after they were placed under investigation, and their movements tracked, announced the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

The gang included a woman who was specialized in creating fake documents used in the crime scene. As part of their way of operating, the gang used to visit various banks and patiently wait on the premises to monitor bank customers. They kept track of customers who used to leave the bank premises with large sums of money. As soon as the customer left the bank, they used to follow the customers’ vehicle until he had to stop and left the vehicle with the cash inside. Seizing the opportunity, members broke the glass and robbed the cash inside the vehicle.

The five suspects were arrested in different places along with some tools used in the thefts such as spark plugs, false licenses of rental cars used in the theft and sums of money in their possession. They were referred to the investigation authorities for legal measures to be taken against them.
