The estimated cost of treatment after adding housewives and perhaps old age to the health insurance for retirees “Afiya” will cost 408 million dinars, with 306 million for the cost of housewives, whose number is about 18 thousand, and 102 million to cover the cost of treatment old age people and their number is about 6,000 people, and it is likely that the Ministry of Health will present this at the next meeting of the Parliamentary Health Committee.
The issue of adding new segments to the “Afiya” program is still the subject of consultation, calculations, and treatment coverage, and although the meeting that took place last Thursday in the Health Committee, and was attended by the Minister of Health and the Ministry staff, but did not resolve the issue, but left the door open, and the Ministry of Health promised to hold other meetings until a consensual formula, and a cost study is reached in case any new segment is added to the Afiya program, reports a local Arabic daily.
The Rapporteur of the Health Committee, Representative Hani Shams, said, “The meeting discussed the details of the distribution of (Afiya) insurance amounts and the aspects it includes. There are aspects that the patient needs and other aspects that he does not need, while he requests coverage of other services,” pointing out the importance of studying these aspects.
In the context of parliamentary committee meetings, which will be held today, Sunday, the Budgets and Final Accounts Committee will discuss the observations of the Audit Bureau regarding the final accounts of the Ministry of Interior contained in its annual report on the results of examination and review of the implementation of the budget of government ministries and departments for fiscal 2021-2022, and discuss the financial irregularities it reported.
