Minister of Commerce and Industry, Fahd Al-Shuraia’an, has re-formed the committee concerned with monitoring prices with the aim of putting an end to the price hike that has occurred in the markets for a while.

Al-Rai quoting informed sources stated that re-forming the committee aims to activate its role more in an effort by the minister to reorganize the market, which would allow more response to artificial prices, and stop any rise in the prices of goods and services.

The sources stressed that the ministry “seeks to protect consumers in all decisions that are taken, and will not allow any leniency or transgression of the law in this regard.”

The sources indicated that Al-Shuraia’an step coincides with his pledge upon assuming his duties as Minister of “Commerce” to work to enhance competitiveness in the local market, and to monitor the work of companies, products, and prices that are traded, while being careful not to allow any artificial price hike, noting that “the coming period will witness a tightening in Monitoring the prices of products and merchandise offered in the local market.
