From January 1, 2022 until April 20, the pre-marital examination centers in Kuwait received 9,186 people, including 8,226 citizens and 960 non-Kuwaitis, says the Deputy Director of the Social Health Department at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Awadhi.

A local Arabic daily quoting Dr Al-Awadhi said 93 people who applied for test during this period were found to be infected with infectious diseases.

He said that the current number of centers affiliated with the Department of Social Health include Al-Sabah Medical District, serving the residents of the capital and Hawalli governorates, the Jahra Center, which serves the residents of Jahra Governorate, the Khaitan Center serving the residents of Farwaniya Governorate, and the Hitteen Center that serves the residents of Hawalli and the Capital governorates. This is in addition to the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Center, which provides services to the residents of Al-Ahmadi Governorate.

Al-Awadhi explained 16 people were found to be carriers of hepatitis B, 7 hepatitis C, 57 infected with syphilis, pointing out that the number of hereditary blood diseases were 862, including 148 sickle cell anemia, 196 with thalassemia and 518 other blood diseases.
