The Ministry of Works confirmed the signing of nine contracts for the maintenance operations of roads, streets and squares in six governorates, a local daily reported. The ministry waited a long time to sign the operations to expedite the maintenance of dilapidated roads and streets, especially that the ministry was receiving many complaints regarding dilapidated streets in various areas, asking the contractors to immediately start the maintenance work.
The ministry will start the immediate maintenance of several streets, some of which have been maintained for more than ten years, indicating that the contracts that were signed are distributed over all regions without exception, and that the ministry will start implementing its contracts in the areas where streets and internal roads showed extreme wear.
In addition, the ministry’s officials called on the supervision teams to tighten the follow-up processes on the implementation of the maintenance contracts, and to submit reports on the work done in a timely manner, as well as the extent of contractors’ commitment to applying the requirements and standards for the maintenance operations.
