Chargé d’Affairs of the Syrian Embassy, Tamim Madani, said the problem of delay in issuing and renewing passports has effectively ended, with the arrival of about 8,000 passports for members of the community in Kuwait.

Madani told Al-Rai that the passports have arrived in Kuwait, and will be sorted at the embassy in preparation for handing them over to their owners.

He explained that among the 8,000 passports that arrived, there are about 7,900 biometric “electronic” passports.

He pointed out that the Syrian passports are currently issued at the Syrian embassy in the Sultanate of Oman or in the capital, Damascus, pointing out that the passport issuance center is currently being installed at the embassy headquarters in Kuwait.

He explained that the fees for issuing a Syrian passport is $300 for a regular passport — which takes three weeks after receiving the application which earlier used to take up to three months — and $800 for an urgent one, which currently takes five days.
