The Ministry of Health is racing against time to complete obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals, to complete the project for the supply of 79 new ambulances from abroad during the next stage, with the aim of keeping pace with the population increase in the country, and the accompanying establishment of modern residential areas in various locations, which raises its numbers to 285 ambulances owned by it. Informed sources told Al-Qabas daily that 10 of the new vehicles will be distributed among remote areas, especially since road accidents top the reports received during the camping season, in light of the growing phenomenon of riding ATVs because no one follows the safety requirements.
Health sources confirmed a delegation from the Ministry of Health, represented by the Medical Emergency Department, recently left the country to visit manufacturer of 79 ambulances to check all specifications.
The sources added that about 69 other ambulances will be distributed to ambulance centers in health areas according to the need and estimates of officials, noting that their specifications correspond to the standards required to transport patients with critical conditions, who need to enter intensive care units in hospitals, as they were designed according to this specialization.
She indicated that the ministry had received 79 ambulances in May 2019, which contributed to increasing the number to 206 at the time, pointing out that the number may decrease due to the need for some of them to be in periodic maintenance or breakdowns.
The sources pointed to the importance of adhering to the rules and procedures of security and safety while driving ATVs and similar other vehicles, in addition to the importance of family supervision over those who drive them, and most importantly raising awareness about reckless driving.
