The Ministry of Health announced 666 new coronavirus infections, raising the total to 56,174, while 3 deaths was reported raising the number fatalities to 396. Ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said the new cases were of people who came into close contact with infected persons. Al-Sanad said 421 of the new cases were Kuwaiti citizens, or 63.21 percent, and 245 non-Kuwaitis, or 36.79 percent.

Al-Sanad said distribution of cases according to the medical areas were: 199 in Al-Ahmadi, 145 in Al-Jahra, 121 in Farwaniya, 108 in Hawally and 93 in the Capital. He said 32 cases were in Saad Al-Abdullah Area, 23 in Qairawan, 22 in Oyoun, 21 in Sabahiya, 21 in Fahaheel and 19 in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. Al-Sanad said there were 156 patients in the intensive care units, while number of patients receiving treatment was 9,617. Medical teams took 3,721 swab tests in the past 24 hours, bringing their total to 441,143. Al-Sanad said 25 people completed their mandatory quarantine period and would now need to do home quarantine for 14 days.

He urged the public again to abide by the preventive measures including physical distancing, and to follow-up on the latest updates by state institutions regarding the pandemic.
