The Hawalli and Salmiya firefighting teams put out a fire that broke out at dawn on Saturday in a flat of a six-floor building in Hawalli, before spreading to the neighboring flats, reported a local daily. The building was evacuated and the fire was extinguished immediately. At least one injury had been reported, wherein the victim suffered from suffocation and was taken to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital.
In a similar incident, the firefighting teams put out a fire in a building in Farwaniya on Saturday morning. The incident resulted in burns and suffocation of five residents. According to a security source, the General Fire Force teams were able to extinguish the fire after the Farwaniya and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh firefighting and search and rescue teams responded to the site. The incident happened on the first floor of a nine-floor building. The firefighters immediately evacuated the occupants and transported the victims to the hospital.
