The examination centers for expats are set to receive transactions and conduct tests, as well as rev up the completion of their residency procedures, foremost of which is the Employment Examination Center in the exhibition grounds in Mishref.

The Arab daily reported that the said center are more equipped to serve expats compared to other centers such as the ones in Shuwaikh and Sabhan, especially from March to June, as the center was flocked with with workers, sponsors and company reps, following the lifting of the coronavirus pandemic restrictions and allowing workers to enter the country again.

The Mishref Center for Examination of Expatriate Workers can receive approximately 1,000 cases per day, but completes about 500 transactions on a daily basis, and the movement of the auditors in it is organized under the supervision of the center’s officials since the first working hours, as the center was launched in late June to relieve pressure on other centers, especially with the rising demand for examination recently compared to the previous two years due to coronavirus restrictions.

According to the report, one of the halls includes ten points for registering auditors, an air-conditioned waiting room for 500 people, as well as four x-ray rooms and 20 clinics for blood testing. In addition, about 160 professionals serve at the center, including a doctor, nurse, radiology technician and administrator, over a 12-hour period and in two shifts, between eight in the morning and six in the evening. The source specified that the center is only dedicated to pre-scheduled domestic labor transactions and examinations, while citizens are allowed to enter with their workers without a prior appointment, provided that the escort is the worker’s sponsor.

Moreover, five labor examination centers in Shuwaikh, Sabhan, Mushrif, Jahra and Ali Sabah Al-Salem receive between 3,500 and 4,000 cases per day, easing up the queues and crowd in early summer. The ministry succeeded in reducing waiting time for lab results and organizational development considering that the number of workers doubled in mid-March. Moreover, the centers in Jahra, from Jahra Health Center to Jahra Hospital 2, were transferred to the old outpatient clinics on 10 October, with six rooms for blood testing, malaria and vaccination, and four reception counters.

Furthermore, the ministry stressed the need to study the establishment of new labor examination centers in other regions in the future to alleviate pressure on other centers. The specific figures at the center are as follows: 1000 daily cases and total capacity, 500 daily examinations and treatments, 500 waiting room capacity, 160 medical, nursing and administrative staff, 20 clinics for blood testing, 10 for scoring reviewers and 4 x-ray rooms.

The MOH is also keen on increasing the blood test rooms by 20 percent and raising their efficiency, in addition to increasing the efficiency of the x-ray rooms and increasing the number of workers in all departments. The ministry’s earlier plan to benefit from some of the sites previously designated to deal with the repercussions of the coronavirus crisis, including the field hospital in Mishref that was converted into the exam center, proved successful. The plan resulted in the quick completion of exams and avoidance of fining the expatriate or sponsor.
