The hour of truth is ticking this morning, to test the government measures that the competent authorities have worked on arranging throughout the summer, to control road congestion and prevent traffic congestion, especially at peak times when work begins in the morning and ends in the afternoon.
After the Civil Service Commission approved the Ministry of the Interior’s proposal to implement “flexible working hours,” which allows the employee to choose the working time and attendance in the morning, between 7 and 9 o’clock, and the Ministry of Education announced school working hours and different attendance and departure times for students in the four educational levels, all eyes will be focused on the roads today and tomorrow when school and university students begin full-time study and employees returning to their jobs after the long summer vacation.
The fundamental difference this year lies in the implementation of “flexible working hours” to distribute the movement of employees and parents on the roads at different times, with the aim of resolving the issue of congestion, and the next 48 hours, starting this Sunday morning, will be a real test of all the government efforts and arrangements that have been made within this framework.
For its part, the Ministry of Interior confirmed that it has taken all security and traffic measures to welcome the new academic year.
Director of the Traffic Awareness Department of the General Traffic Department, Brigadier General Nawaf Al-Hayyan, said in a statement to KUNA that the necessary maintenance has been carried out for all traffic intersections and cameras to ensure their readiness.
Al-Hayyan added that the General Traffic Department has prepared 500 patrols to distribute to all governorates to welcome the academic year, hoping for safety and success for everyone.
He called for the need to cooperate with traffic police and patrols deployed on the main roads, in the interior areas, and around schools and universities to avoid traffic congestion.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior an awareness plan has been developed that will be implemented throughout the year under the slogan “On One Heart” by broadcasting television flashes and publishing awareness-raising instructions and advice in all media and social media outlets to educate the students about the danger of some crimes, especially drugs and psychotropic substances, and their devastating negative effects resulting from their abuse.
