Well-informed security sources said the number of expatriates violating the residency law decreased by about 40,000, from 160,000 to about 120,000 within a year, as a result of the intensive security campaigns carried out by various sectors of the Ministry of Interior.
The sources indicated that this comes within the framework of the continuous efforts to implement the plan to amend the demographics and prosecute violators of the residence and labor laws upon instructions from the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Anwar Al-Barjas, to intensify campaigns in various governorates of the country to preserve security in the best interest of the citizens and residents, reports Al-Rai daily.
The sources confirmed that the instructions from the minister “emphasize the need to continue and intensify the campaigns, and not to be complacent when dealing with the violators,” saying “special teams have been formed which work in 4 shifts around the clock comprising members from the PAM investigations sector with support of the security sectors.
The sources stated from January 1, 2023 to April 28, 2023) about 11,000 violators of the residence law, men and women of different nationalities have been deported.
The sources pointed out the campaigns “during the next few days will include desert areas, farms and chalets,” stressing that “violators will be seized and deported according to the legal procedures followed.”
The sources concluded that the Ministry of Interior continues to pursue violators and prevent loose workers from working, and collect investigations about those who shelter violators and refer them to the competent authorities.
