The Amiri Pardon Committee has compiled the list of names of an estimated 350 prisoners who are covered by the Amiri Pardon for the current year, according to legal controls.
The sources told Al-Qabas 100 prisoners, including citizens, bedoun, and expatriates are expected to be released immediately, while another 250 will have either their sentences reduced or monetary fines dropped.
The sources revealed the Attorney General will refer the list of these names to the Public Prosecution for approval, after which they will be submitted to the Amiri Diwan for scrutiny and approval, and the issuance of a decree to release them.
The sources indicated that the released expatriates will be handed over to the Deportation Center, while the released citizens and bedoun will be prevented from traveling during the remainder of their sentences and will be subject to aftercare; they are required to be of good conduct, and if a crime is committed the person will be produced before the Public Prosecution and will be imprisoned again.
The Amiri Pardon list comprised 459 inmates last year, compared to 480 prisoners in 2020, and 706 in 2019.
