The Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities, in coordination with the National Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education, has approved 33 universities in the United States of America that correspond to the nature, degree and severity of disability for children suffering from disabilities who will be sent to study abroad, noting that the Ministry of Higher Education has allocated 50 seats for these students, however, the number selected does not exceed 35 students.

Al-Jarida has learned that according to the “disability” sources, coordination is underway with the National Universities Selection Authority in Britain, Canada and Australia, pointing out that the selection of students is carried out according to specific requirements, including that they be of Kuwaiti nationality, and that they hold a certificate of proof of disability issued recently by the authority in the following instances audio, visual and physical disabilities provided that the degree of disability is moderate or severe, indicating that the student must have obtained the Kuwaiti General Secondary Certificate in the same system, or its equivalent in its scientific and literary sections, and provided that the validity of the certificate does not exceed 3 academic years from the date of graduation.

Sources added: “The holders of a foreign secondary certificate from inside or outside Kuwait, or from one of the Arab countries, are required to submit an equivalency certificate from the Special Education Department in the Ministry of Education.
