The General Traffic Department listed approximately 3,000 expatriates holding driving licenses in violation of the regulations during the first week of reviewing expatriate licenses. The invalid licenses were blocked to prepare them for cancellation after discovering that they did not conform to the required conditions, according to a local news source.
Under the instructions of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, with follow-up by the Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations, Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, and Director General of the General Traffic Department, Major General Yousef Al-Khadda, the administration reopened an archive of driver’s licenses, reviewing the submissions and their compliance with the regulations.
The first week of inspection opened a large number in which approximately 3,000 are invalid license holders, noting that the blocked licenses were not forged but were obtained by the license holders themselves while in compliance with the conditions, but then their work permits or field of work changed afterwards, invalidating their licenses, whether it is due to the change in salary bracket or profession.
In addition, the source said that the audit process will take approximately two months, where any non-compliant licenses detected will be blocked and the license holder will be summoned. Moreover, if the license holder does not surrender the license, the tag will reflect in the Kuwait Mobile ID and Sahel applications. In addition, the violator will not be able to complete any transactions in the Ministry of Interior, and if caught driving the vehicle with an invalid license, the vehicle will be towed and the violator will face legal measures, as well as deported from the country.
