Recent statistic issued by the Audit Bureau shows the volume of electrical support provided to the agricultural and industrial sectors during the fiscal 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 was 30.5 million dinars.

According to Article 4 of the Electricity Tariff Law No. 20 of 2016, the value of the electric tariff for the two sectors is calculated at 3 fils per kilowatt for non-productive activity, and two fils per kilowatt for the productive activity in both industrial and agricultural.

The Al-Qabas quoting sources said in order for the agricultural activity to be eligible for subsidy the owner must obtain a certificate from Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) which is valid for one year.

As for the industrial sector, it is also necessary to obtain a certificate from the Public Authority for Industry (PAI).

In its last report for 2020, the Audit Bureau had criticized the Ministry of Electricity and Water granting subsidies to consumers in the two sectors without coordinating with PAAAFR and PAI.
