Around 280,000 expatriates with valid residencies are stranded abroad, the majority of whom are from the Arab and Asian communities, Al-Rai reported.

Since the beginning of last year, about 250,000 residents lost their residencies due to their presence outside the country and the failure of their sponsors or employers to renew their residency, in addition to the thousands leaving Kuwait due to the conditions imposed by the repercussions of the Corona pandemic.

The sources told the daily that the expectations of the concerned authorities indicate that a not large percentage will be able to return to Kuwait with the opening of the airport to arrivals as of the first of August.

In a related context, the sources confirmed that all tourist, family, and commercial visit visas, whether prior or issued to some nationalities at the airport, are still suspended and are required to be obtained through an exception from the Supreme Committee for Corona Emergencies, noting that the visas issued at present are for only domestic worker visas.
