The head of diabetes clinics at Al-Sabah Hospital, Dr. Nada Al-Tarkit, confirmed that the pediatric department operates five weekly diabetes clinics that depend on health education for new patients, their follow-up and treatment, and it includes five insulin pump clinics. According to an Arab daily, in observance of the Children’s Department at Al-Sabah Hospital on World Diabetes Day, a total of 68 cases were trained, dispensed, and installed an insulin pump in the insulin pump clinic in Al-Sabah Hospital.

In addition, at least 27 newly-diagnosed patients with diabetes in the hospital have been recorded since the beginning of 2022. On the other hand, the Consultant of Endocrinology and Pediatrics at Al-Sabah Hospital, Dr. Zeidan Al-Mazeedi, wished for the elimination of diabetes in the coming years. The doctor mentioned a recently published study indicating that for every 100,000 people in Kuwait, there are 41 new cases of children with diabetes under 15 years of age.
