An Amiri Decree no 87/2020 was issued pardoning 2370 prisoners, by reducing their sentence and decreasing the fine for the rest.
Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced that 958 prisoners will be released immediately, in line with the rules and regulations applied in correctional institutions, while the penalty and financial fine will be reduced for the rest
In the statement, the Cabinet began implementing the decree to release those who had been included in the Amiri pardon after the public prosecution reviewed the statements, ensuring that the exempted ones met the conditions specified, in line with the ministry. All those released have spent their sentences in correctional institutions with good conduct and behavior, aiming to give them the opportunity to return to society, it pointed out.
