The work team formed to Kuwaitize jobs in cooperative societies, based on the decisions recently taken by the Committee for Amending Demographics and Developing the Labor Market, is currently working on setting controls and mechanisms for implementing the second phase of replacing workers with nationals in cooperative jobs and expected to provide about 2,000 jobs.

According to the sources the Ministry of Social Affairs, there are 74 cooperatives in Kuwait, each of which has about 10 departments, which will be obligated to replace and employ at least 3 citizens in each department, at a rate of 30 Kuwaitis in each cooperative, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The associations has addressed all cooperative societies to provide them with vacant supervisory positions at the level of general managers and their deputies (two deputies for each director) in addition to heads of departments, which amount to approximately 1,000 in all cooperatives, explaining that the federation also demanded to clarify the total supervisory positions occupied by retirees and their names to start the process of replacing them with young national cadres.

The sources pointed out that the Federation of Societies, and out of its keenness to start applying the policy of substitution and Kuwaitization, on itself first, wants to set an example for the rest of the cooperatives to fill positions for citizens at the level of the Director General of the Federation and his two deputies for commercial, administrative and financial affairs, pointing out that all associations will successively publish the same announcement in the daily newspapers during the coming days, in implementation of the decisions and directives of the team, in support of national cadres, and in implementation of the policy of replacement and Kuwaitization of supervisory positions.

The sources expected that the formed team would be held under the chairmanship of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the membership of the Assistant Undersecretary for Cooperation Sector Affairs, the Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower for National Employment Sector Affairs, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Cooperative Societies, in addition to 8 members from PAM and Ministry of Social Affairs.
