The official figures recorded in the Corona Year, 2020 showed that male and female citizens married people of more than 22 different nationalities, Al-Rai reported.
According to the figures issued by the Central Department of Statistics for documented marriage cases, a total of 1780 citizens married foreigners.
The percentage of Kuwaiti men marrying foreign women is 223% greater than Kuwaiti women marrying foreign men. 1,293 marriages for male citizens compared to 487 for female citizens. The number of Kuwaiti marriages with Kuwaiti women reached 9,481 bringing the total number of marriages registered in 2020 to 11,261.
The data indicate that the highest marriages between Kuwaiti men and women and other nationalities were with those who hold Saudi nationality, at 564 cases, while marriages with non-Arab Asians amount to 158 for male and female citizens.
