The Kuwait Oil Tanker Company has received bids for the comprehensive contract tender for dry-docking and maintenance of 7 oil tankers, as part of contracts to maintain the safety of the Kuwaiti maritime fleet for the oil sector.

The Al-Anba daily has learned from responsible oil sources that the two companies have submitted offers. The UAE Dry Docks Company won the lowest offer with a value of $16.5 million, while the Arab Shipbuilding and Repairyard Company has submitted the second offers worth $16.9 million.

The KOTC had invited 4 companies to participate in the tender — the Dry Docks Company, the Arab Shipbuilding and Repairyard Company (ASRY), the Oman Dry Docks Company, and the Keppel Tankers Company.

The sources added, the agreement is exclusive for the maintenance of 7 tankers over a period of 3 years, and allows the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company to maintain ships periodically in the docks of the company that won the contract.

The dry-docking process includes a comprehensive maintenance of the hull, tank cleaning and painting, and periodic maintenance of engines and navigational devices.
