The Director of Production and Distribution Department at the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), Jassim Al-Mithen, revealed that 30,000 civil id cards were handed over to the recipients in the new branch of the Authority in the Ahmadi Governorate, which is located in South Sabahiya, out of 50,000 cards that were stored in machines in 10 days since the new headquarters opened to the public, Al Rai said.

Al-Mithen, said to Al-Rai daily, that as government agencies had to halt work during the coronavirus pandemic, this led to an increase in the number of civil id cards that had to be distributed for citizens, their domestic workers and expatriates, hence, PAM opened a new branch with partial work timings from 9 am to 5 pm to serve the people of the Ahmadi Governorate and Mubarak Al-Kabeer.

He added within 10 working days, 30,000 civil cards were distributed out of the 50,000 that were stored, the share of citizens of which was 16,000 and domestic workers was 14,000, indicating that the expatriates of Al-Ahmadi and Mubarak Al-Kabeer received their civil id cards from the main branch until the Al-Ahmadi headquarters officially open early next year.

Al-Mithen pointed out that the partial operation of the new branch was dedicated to handing over civil id cards to citizens and their domestic workers only.

Stressing that the branch does not process transactions, but is rather only for issuing civil id cards from 9 am to 5 pm, he urged people to make sure that the civil card is ready at the place where it is stored before heading to the designated place to receive it after making an automated inquiry on the number 1889988 or through the authority’s website, indicating that the site will not set a date unless the civil ID is ready for delivery.

Al-Mithen stated that the Kuwait Mobile ID app allows citizens and expats the freedom to deal with governmental and non-governmental agencies as if the civil card was in their possession, as the digital civil card was approved in completing the transactions, provided the person has a valid visa.

He requested everyone to use the card as it provided safety and speed in completing transactions without the hassle of carrying the civil ID card, which can get damaged or lost.

Pointing out that the Kuwait Mobile ID app is not available for domestic workers, and therefore, he added that PAM was keen to complete the transactions of citizens and their domestic workers, and hand over their visas, despite the fact that the work in the authority is at 50 percent.
