In preparation for the New Year’s holiday, the operating systems at Kuwait International Airport have raised the maximum level of readiness to facilitate travel and keep pace with the double momentum in departures and arrivals. According to a local daily, a recent statistic issued by the General Administration of Civil Aviation revealed that 139,000 passengers passed through Kuwait Airport on board 1,284 departing and arriving flights.

According to the statistics, from 29 December to 1 January 2023, Dubai, Doha, Cairo, Istanbul and Jeddah top the most traveled destinations in terms of reservations. The data also showed that the number of departing flights during this period totaled to 642 flights carrying about 78 thousand passengers, compared to 642 arriving flights carrying about 61 thousand passengers.

The Kuwait International Airport told the local paper about operational plans coinciding with the holidays that depend on ensuring that the performance of the operational sectors is raised and the services provided to passengers are improved, in order to ensure smooth movement of passengers from parking lots to aircraft gates. The daily paper said that the operating system and devices at the airport are being checked periodically, to ensure normal movement without sudden congestion, especially at peak times. In addition, the operating agencies are working in full swing in order to provide comfort for travelers and facilitate the smooth flow of their departure and return to the country.

It was indicated that there are teams working round-the-clock to implement field plans that aim to regulate the movement of passengers at the airport, as the number of employees will be doubled at the gates, in the transit area, and in the departures and arrivals halls. Moreover, the tasks of the work teams also support other operating agencies at the airport, and to overcome all obstacles that may face departing passengers. In addition, the source indicated that the reception and departure halls and the accompanying services were equipped to ensure the speedy completion of the work, as well as coordination with the Ministries of Customs and the Interior to facilitate procedures, and operate additional counters at peak times.

The local daily mentioned that the distribution of passengers to the airport buildings, starting with the main building T1 in addition to the Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways buildings, has contributed to reducing pressure and congestion.
