Major General Yousef Al Khadda was quoted as saying the General Traffic Department has reported a total of 324 major traffic and 916 minor traffic accidents from December 30. 2023 to January 5, 2024.
The weekly statistics indicate the GTD has issued traffic 21,924 various traffic violations, and arrested 37 juveniles for driving without a license, reports Al-Anba daily.
All those arrested have been referred to the Juvenile Prosecution and the owners of the vehicles have been ordered to pay monetary fines for allowing the juveniles to have access to their vehicles.
Moreover, 83 vehicles with outstanding warrants were apprehended for breaches of trust or judicial cases.
The traffic have also arrested 20 motorists and detained them at the respective police stations after they were caught for committing various types of offences.
The General Traffic Department has also impounded 235 vehicles and 85 motorcycles and towed them to the ministry garage.
