The three suicide cases which happened the day before yesterday sounds an alarm bell because people have used different means and methods to take their own lives.

According to statists 120 people have ended their lives between January and November 2021, which works out to 12 deaths from suicides per month in Kuwait.

Security sources told Al-Qabas a majority of the suicide cases are by Asians for which have increased sharply following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The daily added, expatriates who attempt to commit suicide are deported from the country. In recent times, suicide attempts have doubled especially from the Jaber Bridge.

The police stations receive frequent reports of attempted suicide of maids and the firefighting force has succeeded in preventing dozens of Asians from committing suicide since the beginning of the outbreak of the virus.

The National Bureau of Human Rights said yesterday it is studying the reasons for ‘suicides’ in cooperation with 7 government agencies. The head of the Complaints and Grievances Committee at the Bureau, Ali Al-Baghli said: “The case 3 suicides in one day must provoke the community to move.” He pointed out that “Kuwait in 2020 recorded the highest rate of suicides in its history”.
