The Search and Investigation Department of the Farwaniya Governorate (Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Office) has been tasked with apprehending a citizen and an expatriate following accusations by 12 citizens, all aged over 60, that they were victims of fraudulent activities.
According to a security source, the complainants testified at the Jleeb police station that they received phone calls informing them of winning prizes in a draw, with the gifts promised to be delivered to their homes without any charges, reports Al-Anba daily.
The informants revealed that on the same day as the call, the gifts arrived, and a representative requested them to sign a receipt confirming the receipt of the gifts, which they did.
To their surprise, they later discovered financial claims ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 dinars. Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the representatives had signed a document stating that they had received items in-kind, and the owed amount represented the value of these items.
The informants provided evidence indicating that they became indebted to a company specializing in selling devices.
The source continued, stating that Jleeb police officers summoned several representatives who claimed ignorance about the documents the clients were signing. They mentioned receiving orders to go to a specific address, deliver a gift to the client, and sign a document.
Further investigations revealed that the company, managed by a citizen and an expatriate, is based in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area and engages in fraudulent operations targeting the elderly.
The authorities will conduct investigations into the methods used to obtain data on citizens subjected to fraud, verifying the claims of the complainants regarding fraud and deception.
