A total of 1,080 Central Prison inmates have benefited from the Amiri Amnesty that was issued on the occasion of the 61st National Day recently.
A local Arabic daily quoting prison sources indicated 530 prisoners will have their fines dropped and 200 will be released immediately, including 70 Kuwaitis and 130 residents.
The sources added the decree will be effective from tomorrow, Wednesday, when the persons covered by the amnesty will be immediately released, while the foreigners who obtained the immediate release will be deported.
