1002 new coronavirus cases, the highest number this year

Kuwait’s Ministry of Health (MoH) registered on Sunday 1002 additional COVID-19 cases over a 24-hour span, increasing the total number of infections to 172,996, while six fatalities were recorded to raise the death toll to 975.

The ministry said in a press statement that the number of people receiving medical care in the intensive care departments reached 96 cases, bringing the total number of cases confirmed to be infected with the virus and are still receiving the necessary medical care is 9,310 cases.

She added that the number of swabs performed in the past 24 hours reached 10271, bringing the total to 1618,576 tests, noting that the percentage of infections to the number of swabs during the past 24 hours was 9.7 percent.

He renewed call for citizens and expats to continue adopting all preventive measures, avoid mixing with others, and ensure the implementation of the physical distancing strategy.

Ministry of Health announced earlier today that 591 infection cases had recovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 162,711.
