The Kuwaiti Health Ministry said, Sunday, that one new case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) was discovered in the last 24 hours, adding that 10 cases have completed quarantine. The number of those infected with the virus reached 62 with one case among them having recovered from the infection.
Speaking to the press, Health Ministry Spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad revealed that all patients with coronavirus are receiving necessary medical care. As for specifics, Dr. Al-Sanad said that three cases were admitted to the ICU with one being in critical condition.
On efforts to detect the COVID-19, Dr. Al-Sanad maintained that the health authorities were carrying out all procedures to curb the spread of the virus, indicating that tests were conducted recently on 105 Kuwaiti citizens returning from Iraq. The Health Ministry had taken 5,123 samples so far with the number expected to increase, he said.
He noted that there were three quarantine facilities in Khairan resort, Al-Mangaf, and Al-Joun center, housing 580, 146, and 105 patients respectively.
Al-Sanad affirmed that the Ministry was eager to provide the populous with material and necessities to protect them against the virus. The ministry is working with WHO and other bodies to protect Kuwait’s people and help address the current situation, he said.
Globally, the number of those infected with the virus has reached 102,000 cases with China having around 80,000. The COVID-19 is currently present in some 101 countries. The Health Ministry of Kuwait urges citizens and residents to follow trusted medical measures to prevent infection and contact the hotline in case of emergency. Avoiding the spread of rumors and misinformation is also key in the battle against coronavirus, the ministry said.
