As part of the early preparations for the Ministry of Education, the Director of the Department of Supplies and Stores in the Ministry, Matrouk Al-Mutairi, announced that “a new furniture tender has been floated for the academic year 2023-2024, and the necessary budget for it has been approved worth 1.5 million dinars within the budget of the current fiscal year 2022-2023, which includes supplying about 55,000 chairs, tables and office furniture to members of the educational and administrative bodies.

In a statement to a local Arabic daily, Al-Mutairi suggested that the tender will take a whole year for the regulatory authorities, and its budget might be carried over to the next fiscal year, pointing to the completion of the implementation of 85,000 requests to replace damaged furniture (chairs and tables) in schools according to the availability especially that the Ministry’s warehouses are currently empty.

It is noteworthy that the Department of Supply and Stores has furnished 12 new schools that were opened this year in West Abdullah Al-Mubarak and Jaber Al-Ahmad, in addition to replacing damaged furniture in a large number of schools that were not furnished since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
